A close comparison of Chunghwa Double Medium packaging shows differences in several printing and manufacturing details.
The following information focuses on the features shown in the genuine and counterfeit comparison images.
Front Printing
The genuine trademark paper is produced using laser gravure printing. The Tiananmen design uses embossed hot stamping, creating a strong three-dimensional effect.
The main gate is accurately registered with the gold stamping and has a raised-and-recessed appearance. Fine horizontal lines are visible across the Tiananmen wall, and the βδΈεβ characters are clear and correctly registered with the gold stamping.
The counterfeit version uses high-definition scanned reproduction printing. The semi-elliptical gold line around the Tiananmen arch can be noticeably offset from the black shadow. The gold stamping may also be misregistered.
The horizontal lines on the Tiananmen wall may be missing or unclear. The βδΈεβ characters may also be less clear and may not match the gold stamping correctly.

Back Printing
The genuine back has a full and bright background with a glossy appearance. The pinyin lettering on the Huabiao is clear and fine, with micro-pattern anti-counterfeiting technology. The black five-pointed star beneath the Huabiao has a clear outline.
The counterfeit back may have a lighter background and less gloss. The pinyin lettering may appear thicker, while the mark below the Huabiao may look like a blurred dotted shape rather than a clearly defined five-pointed star.

Side Seal and Pull Tab
Genuine packs use machine hot-sealing, with the seal formed in one process. The seal is even and the pull-tab has a regular semicircular shape with smooth edges.
The counterfeit version may use a manually operated electric soldering iron. The seal can be uneven and wrinkled, while the pull-tab may be semi-elliptical with rough edges.

Bottom Steel Marking
The genuine steel marking is made using dynamic machine roller embossing. Its depth and height can vary, and the characters may not be completely regular.
Counterfeit markings are generally made using static manual printing. They are usually shallower and the characters tend to look more uniform.
